  1. Just returned today from a week staying at 5 Ribble Terrace, which was fantastic. The house was so warm and comfortable. Mark was very helpful and he kindly showed around the Giggleswick School Chapel and Richard Whitley Theatre which was extremely interesting as the Chapel is iconic and can be seen from above Settle.
It is a perfect place for walking, cycling and sightseeing. Lots of great places to eat too. Lots of shorter walks from the doorstep too.
We will certainly recommend it to friends and family.
We love Settle and will be back.

  2. Just come back from 12 days at Number 5. What a wonderful place to stay! So warm and cosy! The fact that Mark popped round the first night to make sure we were ok was lovely as was the welcome pint of milk and tea and coffee! Falling asleep at night in the super king size bed under the cosy duvet with the sound of the River Ribble burbling along was wonderful! Although one night after heavy rain it roared a bit! The house is so quiet!
Settle is a lovely little town too and the people are so friendly! We recommend The Naked Man Cafe for excellent coffee and food, The Fishermans for the best fish and chips and Ruchee for fantastic Indian and Bangladeshi food! We also had a good lunch and a great beer in the Golden Lion.
You must visit the little second hand book shop tucked away around the corner from The House that Jack Built! Amazing little place to stock up on your holiday reading! The Courtyard Cheese shop at the Cheese Barn is fantastic for sampling specialist cheeses (and Buying them!) and the cafe upstairs serves wonderful coffee and cake!
We saw so much in our 12 days there I could write a book! Thank you Mark for a fabulous holoidayl

  3. Just enjoyed a great week at number 5. Beautiful house and setting by river. Love this area – loads to see and do with great pubs and eateries all over. Can’t wait to go back.

  4. We travelled from ireland to stay at ribble cottage on 15th june for one week. It was a fantastic holiday. Cottage was ideally situated for my elderly parents and they were able to potter off into the village. House itself had everything in it. Spotlessly clean and plenty of room with lovely high ceilings… local chipper served the best fish and chips ever. Weather was fabulous. Visited grassington village which was fab and skipton had a great market. Will definitely be back soon.

  5. We stayed at 5 Ribble terrace in April this year. We had a super week. It is a gorgeous house with beautiful views from the lounge and bedrooms. It was an ideal base for exploring. We visited White Scar caves, Ingleton Waterfall Trail, Brimham Rocks, Wray castle, Lake District, Forbidden Corner , Castle Howard and Pateley Bridge sweet shop!! We thought Settle was a lovely place, lots of shops and opposite the house, our children went to an inflatable session in the swimming pool (this runs during the holidays I think) Mark the owner is a lovely chap and he took us on a tour of the Giggleswick Chapel and Theatre which was very interesting. Thanks for a fab week :>)

  6. We stayed at 5 Ribble Terrace from the 28th August to the 8th September, and had a very enjoyable holiday. Lovely cosy house with pleasant views of the river, a lovely place to sit in the evening with a cuppa or a glass of wine. Easy walking into the centre of Settle, where the Bike Shop does excellent coffee.
Mark lives around the corner, and is on hand to offer help if needed, and is also very good at suggesting places to visit, walks and cycle rides etc. He also has secure storage for bikes.
We have no hesitation in recommending Mark and Debbie’s property for a comfortable and happy holiday base in the Dales and look forward to staying again in the future.
